Virtual Technology Review in Healthcare

Virtual reality (VR) is the ability to interact with a space or object digitally recreated, which simulates a real-world experience. In healthcare settings, the technology is used to improve movement for rehabilitation patients, or to relax and distract www.iptech.one/sega-genesis-mini-hack/ patients during medical procedures. VR is still at the beginning stages of its application and acceptance in the clinical practice. This article offers an overview of the challenges and facilitators to the use of VR in healthcare settings.

The majority of the issues that were identified in this study are related to the adopter system and organization categories of the NASSS framework, particularly the needs of healthcare providers to be educated and trained on VR, the absence of research and evidence about the added value of VR in the treatment context as well as the perceived low self-efficacy, confidence and willingness to apply and utilize VR during patient care. Several studies have recommended using behavioral change techniques such as education and training, or intervision groups, to aid clinicians in their decision-making processes with regard to VR.

Facilitators were not often recognized for reasons such as the younger age of patients who might be more open to technology and feel more comfortable with it or the fact that VR could provide an immersive and interactive learning environment that stimulates the senses and fosters deeper understanding of complex scientific concepts. VR’s ability to replicate real-world scenarios, such as the surface or structure of atoms makes it an effective educational tool that lets students explore and experiment with abstract and complex concepts.
